4.0.1 Combat rims, and hardware.
Combat rims and all hardware are painted OD. The combat rim WARNING plates were lightly brushed with white paint to hilight the tops of the letters or possibly painted solid white on some vehicles.
Lug Nuts are to be painted O.D. as specified by contract. Lug nuts on the left side of the vehicle are left-hand thread and should be stamped with the letter “L” on the face of the nut.
Combat rims originally used a steel beadlock which limited the amount of the tire tube stem that protruded from the rim. When the beadlock is omitted, the restorer should make sure that the stem does not extend too far.
Valve stem caps should be of the original type which had a knurled rim, and incorporated a tire valve removal “fork” in the top.

See these threads in relation to the finish of the 10 nuts which hold the rims together. In several pictures of factory fresh jeeps and jeeps being uncrated, it shows that they are NOT OD, but appear black in colour, most likely parkerised. This appears in both photos of MB's and GPW's.
I suspect the judging standard is wrong- all hardware is not painted OD. At least for a GPW they should be Black, Parkerised. NOT olive drab.

4.0.2 Types of tires used on GPWs as delivered from the factory
The following chart, compiled by Lloyd White shows estimated tire allocation for GPW production from start of production thru end of production. Documentation uncovered by Jim Gilmore at the Ford factory archives indicates that during the period of January 1942 thru November 1942, GPW production consisted of 60% Ford tires and 40% Firestone.* Note: GPWs produced between 10/1 - 12/31 1944 did not include a spare tire, flap and tube. A total of 17,537 units were supplied with a spare rim only.**
* Note: The issue of what tires were used in actual production is definitely not resolved and would benefit from additional research and discussion. Factory photos exist of GPWs being produced in 1942 with goodyear tires (see photo sect 6.0.5)
** Per J.Gilmore archival research. (Post war accounting)
