11.0 Lighting
GPW headlights were Corcoran Brown “!SeeLite” sealed beams incorporating an internal light bulb. The reflectors of these lamps have a yellowish color compared the blue of modern sealed beams.
GPW headlight buckets incorporate a small water drain hole near the front-bottom edge of the bucket.
From start of production thru approx early October ‘42, GPWs were not equipped from the factory with blackout driving lights. A retrofit blackout light kit with a straight sided guard was made available July 1942.* Vehicles produced before contract W-374-ORD-2862 will be judged correct either without the blackout driving light, or with the early straight sided retrofit kit installed.
Starting approximately 20 October ‘42 a blackout driving light assembly, including a horseshoe shaped guard became standard equipment. A script “f” on the top of this guard was eliminated in early 1945.
* Kit #1, same as used on MB.
