 Before
considering any Adjustable Wrench, first one needs to know a few things.
Many 11" wrenches fall into the required specifications, for the
Willys Tool Kit it's simplified by the following Blue Print which I found
in my computer library, this includes when certain additions were
required, such as when the Ord. Number was required (June 7th 1945) and
when it was stamped. (Jan 10th 1950)
What is interesting is, the jaw opening size was altered from 2-27/32”
to 3” and depth from 1-7/16” to 1-1/2”
If you look at the explanations in Notes B and C at the top of the
drawing, it perhaps means the opening spec was loosened from a strict
3" ["was"] opening to the range of 2-27/32" to 3"
opening, and the depth spec was loosened from a fixed 1-1/2"
["was"] to a range from 1-7/16" to 1-1/2" deep. I
think this might have been done to let "or equivalents" pass
muster by incorporating and accepting the minor differences in
manufacturer's specs for the same basic type of wrench.
This doesn't mean to say that Ford Tool Kits followed the same
requirements, so Moore 12 should be considered as it's shown in Ford Tool
Kit layouts.

In the late 1920s, the logo was simplified to include only the Billings
name plus a "Made in U.S.A." (or "Made U.S.A.") with
the B-Triangle logo in the center. Something to consider when looking to
purchase a correct time line Billings Wrench.

If you look closely at the
"Ford" tool kit posts at the beginning of this sticky, you will
see the Adjustable Wrench is a MOORE 12" wrench.
